Cotton, Timber & Town Credit
Twentieth-century Allendale densifies around crop credit, timber work, and merchant ledgers—not only deeds.
After 1919 formation, many Allendale families leave denser trails in merchant credit, cotton-season newspapers, and timber-related employment than in deep antebellum deed books (those usually sit in Barnwell/Hampton). Search town directories and weeklies for Fairfax and Ulmer as carefully as the seat.
