Oconee’s creation means Civil War–era families often file first under Pickens or Pendleton-era labels.

For events before 1868, start with Pickens and Pendleton District context, then move forward into Oconee for later deeds and probate. Mountain geography also pulls some kin into Georgia and North Carolina.
