South Carolina brick walls are often jurisdiction problems. For Charleston County:

Modern county organization around 1769.
Parent / earlier context: Original judicial district (settled 1670 as Charles Town).
Neighbors that frequently hold the missing deed or marriage: Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester.
