Updates and Cemetery Transcriptions
I’ve updated Edgefield County, so there should be a bit more information there now. Also, I’ve added Cemetery Transcriptions links on counties where that information is available. On many it is not yet available, but those have been added up through the letter “E”, which, unfortunately did not have any entries. I do have one more note in regards to the USGS cemetery listings.
I’ve found with the USGS cemetery listings, they are not complete and should not be taken as a full indexing of EVERY cemetery in a county. They appear to be fairly thorough, moreso than many lists I’ve found, but there are gaps. The gaps in some cases are not just of small family cemeteries, but I know of several medium size Church cemeteries that are absent this index.

I seek earnestly data on JOHN Dodd of Charleston, S. Carolina. He had a gunshop listed in a newspaper ad telling of his move to a new location. I believe he died just after the American Rev.? 1778ish?
He is mentioned in the personal papers of General George Washington as being a gunsmith who repaired rifles for the patriots and Washington paid him money for old guns being repaired which Washington gave to the indians to focus their aid in the war against the British.
I seek to locate his children and descendents for a DNA study of the Dodd family.
There is alot of trouble geting South Carolina records on line.
thanks
